His cycling career began at the Continental Team LKT-Brandenburg. He was then under contract to various World and Professional Continental Teams, including Milram and IAM.

Roger’s first notable success in track cycling was at the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing where he was awarded a silver medal.

He is considered to be one of the most reliable and reputable lead-out riders in the peloton. In 2016, he managed to win a stage at the Giro d’Italia – his biggest success to date.

Roger rides for the Australian UCI WorldTeam Mitchelton-Scott since 2017.

Roger began cycling at the age of nine. Three years later, he moved to Cottbus where he was successful in cycling at an early age.

At the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing, Roger took 1st place in the points race at the young age of 22.
For this feat, he received the Silver Laurel from the German Federal President; it is widely considered the most prestigious prize for athletes in Germany.

Numerous victories were to follow, yielding his first professional contract in 2010. Due to his extraordinary performance, the 183cm Eisenhüttenstadt native was nominated to participate in the Tour de France in his very first professional season.

In the following years. Roger delivered convincing performances for different teams, be it as a lead-out rider or a sprinter. In the process, Roger managed the shift back and forth between the track and road cycling seasons effortlessly.

At the age of 31, Roger can look back on great career, highlighted by his three participations at the Olympic Games and Tour de France and Giro d’Italia starts.
